Waqf contribution
Track the annual contribution owed to the State Waqf Board, and print its annual accounts form.
The Waqf contribution section helps masjids that are registered with the State Waqf Board keep track of the annual contribution owed under Section 72 of the Waqf Act, 1995. InflowBooks works out the figure from the income and expenses you already record, so you can see what is due and what you have paid without keeping a separate ledger.
How the contribution is worked out
The contribution is a percentage of your yearly income after deductions. That is the income you have chosen to count, minus the expenses you have marked as deductible. The percentage used is your contribution rate, which is 5% unless you change it.
Not every expense can be deducted in full. Each deductible expense is given a kind, and that kind sets the most that can be subtracted:
| Deductible kind | Cap |
|---|---|
| Taxes and cesses | Fully deductible |
| Building repairs | Up to 5% of rental income |
| Agricultural | Up to 20% of agricultural land income |
If that figure falls below the limit set in the rules, no contribution is due for that year. When a contribution is due, the balance payable is the contribution due minus whatever you have already paid to the Board.
Setting up Waqf tracking
- Ask an administrator to enable Waqf tracking in Settings, then enter the Waqf Board name, registration number and contribution rate.
- Open the Waqf section, select Choose income and tick the income your Board assesses. For example, a masjid with a single General fund whose Board counts only subscriptions ticks Monthly subscription payments and leaves the fund unticked. You can also tick whole funds or individual collection sources.
- For each fund that holds rent or farm income, choose its Waqf income type in Funds: rent or agricultural. If you collect shop rent through Waqf properties, its Property rent fund arrives already counted as rental income.
- In Expenses, mark the expense categories you may deduct as deductible and set the right kind for each, so the correct cap is applied.
- Open the Waqf section and choose a fiscal year to see the calculation for that year.
- Each time you pay the Board, record the payment so the balance payable stays accurate.
The fields explained
- Waqf Board name
- The State Waqf Board your masjid is registered with.
- Waqf registration number
- The registration number issued to your masjid by the Board.
- Contribution rate
- The percentage applied to your yearly income after deductions. The default is 5%, following the 2025 amendment. You can change it if your Board has set a different rate.
- Income that counts
- The income your Board assesses. Choose any mix of funds, collection sources and monthly subscription payments. A payment that matches more than one choice counts once.
- Waqf income type
- Set on each fund, and on each collection source you count: rent, agricultural or other. Rent and agricultural income set the caps on repairs and agricultural expenses. A source with its own type, such as a coconut auction marked agricultural, uses that type whichever fund the money goes into.
- Deductible expenses
- The expense categories that may be subtracted from income, each marked with the kind that decides its cap.
- For financial year
- On a payment to the Board: the year the payment settles. It is subtracted from that year's contribution, whichever year it was paid in. Payments recorded without a year provisionally use the financial year before the payment date until the year is confirmed.
- Annual accounts heads
- For a Board with a prescribed form, the line of that form each fund, collection source and expense category reports under. Anything left blank prints under Other items with its own name.
- District, taluk, village
- Printed in the header of the annual accounts, as the form asks.
- Mutawalli
- The office-bearer who signs the Board's returns: name, address with PIN code and mobile number, printed at the foot of the annual accounts.
Recording payments to the Board
Each time you pay money to the Board, record that payment in the Waqf section and say which financial year it is for. The Board assesses a year after it closes, so the payment is usually made in the next year or the one after; it counts against the year it settles, not the year the money left. InflowBooks subtracts it from that year's contribution due, so the balance payable always reflects what is still owed. Keeping every payment recorded also gives you a clear history to share with the Board when it is needed.
Reviewing older payment years
When Home shows a payment-year reminder, open Waqf to see the years needing confirmation. In Payments to the Board, rows marked Year needs confirmation show a Suggested year. Check your records, keep or change that year, then select Confirm year.
Someone with access to Waqf and permission to manage expenses must save the confirmation. Saving clears that row's badge for the whole committee. The Home reminder clears when all payment years are confirmed. To correct a confirmed year later, change it and select Save year.
Printing the statement
Choose the financial year and select Print statement. The statement is set out in five parts: A, particulars of the waqf and its registration; B, assessable income; C, the three deductions allowed under Section 72, each with the amount spent and the amount allowed; D, the computation of the contribution; and E, every payment made to the Board. Rows and columns are numbered, so any figure can be referred to by part and row.
It ends with a verification for the Treasurer and the Secretary or President to sign, with space for name, designation, place, date and the seal. Every page carries your name, the financial year and the registration number at the top, and the printed date and page number at the foot. Print it, or choose Save as PDF in the print window. For a year that is still running, the figures are up to the day it was printed.
Printed contribution statements flag unconfirmed payment years. The contribution paid and balance payable may change after those years are reviewed.
The annual accounts for the Board
Besides the contribution, Section 46 of the Waqf Act asks every mutawalli to hand the Board a full statement of the year's receipts and payments before 1 July, in the form the Board prescribes. The Annual accounts section of the Waqf page fills that form from the books you already keep: every receipt and payment of the financial year, grouped the way the Board wants it, with the opening and closing cash and bank balances from your cash book.
Choose your Waqf Board from the list in the registration panel. For the Kerala State Waqf Board the sheet is Form No. 6, printed in Malayalam with the Board's own numbered heads (varisangya, nercha, pidiyari, building rent, salaries, taxes, the Board contribution and the rest), so it can be laid on the Board's pad line for line. For a Board without a prescribed form yet, the same figures print as a receipts and payments account under your own fund, collection and category names.
- In the registration panel, pick the Board, and fill in the district, taluk and village and the mutawalli's name, address and mobile number. These print on the sheet.
- Open Map heads and say which line of the form each fund, collection source and expense category belongs to. Subscriptions, rent, salaries and certificate fees already have their lines; change them only if your Board reads them differently. Anything you leave blank prints under Other items with its own name, so nothing is lost.
- Check the totals shown on the page. When the opening balance plus receipts does not equal payments plus the closing balance, the page says so; the cause is usually an entry recorded outside the cash book.
- Select Print Form 6 (or Print accounts) and sign the sheet.
